Hello, I am sad to say that one of my mosque members and, to me considered family, was murdered on monday in Pakistan for being an Ahmadi Muslim. This news struck me very hard because of the fact that I belonged to the mosque of where he was and I am part of that community, I consider everyone in that mosque my family because we are all brethren together. He was a close family friend and great humanitarian. He believed in helping mankind and that is why he became a cardiologist, he went to a town called Rabwah in Pakistan, voluntarily to serve as a physician for a couple days and help the best he could for that health clinic he helped make. In Pakistan being Ahmadi muslim was outlawed and anyone who is Ahmadi is considered non muslim, and would be imprisoned for reading the Quran or displaying any form of worship. The health clinic was under alot of extremist hate. Dr. Mehdi Ali Qamar, who was the victim of this tragic event, took his wife and 2 toddler sons with him to Pakistan leaving behind his eldest son in Ohio so that he could take exams for school. 2 days after he arrived he went with his son and wife to visit a cemetery in which his family was buried. He went to pay respect to his deceased family members, but upon leaving with his wife and child, he was approached by 2 men on motorcycles that shot him 12 times leaving him for dead in front of his child and wife. They then took a picture of him and posted it on the WEB. Dr. Qamar now joins the 137 Ahmadis that have been martyred in Pakistan for their faith in the last 4 years. Dr. Mehdi Ali Qamar was a great man who lived every day putting other peoples lives before his own. I mourn for his loss and so does the rest of our mosque community, He was a humanitarian above anything else. We must all learn from this, and reflect on what we witness everyday....judgement.....for beliefs that others know nothing about, yet they are still judged for doing nothing wrong. We Ahmadis go by one saying "love for all hatred for none" I try to love by this everyday even though I feel anger knowing I cannot do anything about things like this. That is why our mosque is starting a campaign in love for Dr. Mehdi Ali Qamar, and in this campaign we are trying to express NO hatred whatsoever against anyone, but we are trying to express the love we had for this man and his family. We must support this because you shouldn't be judged by what you believe in and you should never go through what this tragic event displayed. If you accept people for who they are no matter what their beliefs are...then you are a great person and will go a long way in life...if your someone who judges people based on what their beliefs are instead of their character.....then I suggest you change that about yourself and remember that no one is what they are thought to be...there are good people given bad titles and there are bad people given good titles....never be too quick to judge and always keep fighting for a cause such as this. This cause is not only for Muslims, but it is out there to show that people must not be abused for their beliefs. Thank You if you read this to its entirety.
